Problem Statement

In today’s society, social media usage and addiction are rising. One study reports that “Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 - 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction.” With this recent increase in social media addiction, studies are beginning to show a negative correlation between social media and mental health. One example is the recent rise in depression: “Depression rates rose 70% over the last 25 years; nearly one in 10 reported depression.” This increase in social media use correlates closely with an increase in many negative aspects of mental health, which can negatively impact work performance, along with many other things. This project shows the decrease in mental health, based on the amount of social media hours per day.
