Atlanta’s public safety improvement between 2001 and 2009 occurred at more than twice the rate of the rest of the country. After ranking in the top five highest violent crime cities for most of the previous three decades, in 2009 Atlanta ranked 31st, and in 2015,ranked it 19th. by crime rate, FBI strongly cautions against comparing different cities\' crime rates, as such a misuse of bare statistics ignores various important factors, such as population density, degree of urbanization, composition of population, economic conditions, etc. This project is inspired to show a breakdown of crimes reported by city and tracks its evolution through time, specifically from 2009 – 2017.

Problem Statement

In the city of Atlanta, the rising trend of various crimes such as larceny, auto theft, and property crimes, Rape crimes incidents increased 59.8% in 2011 as indicated in the recent crime data, poses a significant challenge to public safety and the well-being of its residents. This issue is not confined to a single area but is spread across different neighborhoods and Neighborhood Planning Unit(NPUs), impacting the sense of security and quality of life in these communities. The current approaches to crime prevention and control appear insufficient in curbing the increasing crime rates.
