Project Overview
In the wake of the George Floyd incident there has been a movement growing in popularity among large cities to Defund the Police. Budget cuts, reduced manpower, and limited resources are all but certain. Inside we look at the crimes in the City of Boston. Crimes are analyzed on what crimes are committed, when and where they are committed and what Districts stand out. This will help us understand what we can do to better serve our communities on limited resources. This will allow the Boston PD to make informed decisions on where and when to deploy valuable resources in order to protect and serve the hardest hit neighborhoods. They can pull resources from one area to backfill another. This will create a community bond amongst neighboring districts as well as the Boston Police. We can keep Boston safe while focusing on hard hit neighborhoods.
