Project Overview

Death by suicide is extremely complex issue that causes pain to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide every year. The initial dataset for this project contained the number of suicides from 1985 to 2015, classified by countries and continents worldwide. This project reflects the data on Suicides year over year, which reflects the highest number of suicides as 2,56,119 in 1999. The Russian Federation has the highest suicide among countries throughout the period with a total of 1,209,742. The project also categorizes the Suicides by age group, which also reflects, with an increase in age, there is more tendency for suicide among people. The central theme of creating this dashboard is to create awareness regarding suicide numbers yearly and to identify the highest prone to suicide among countries

Problem Statement

Suicide is when people harm themselves with the goal of ending their life, and they die as a result. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that each year approximately one million people die from suicide, representing a global mortality rate of 16 people per 100,000 or one death every 40 seconds. Suicide rates today are most prevalent among the elderly population.

The main risk factors for suicide are:
Depression, other mental disorders, or substance use disorder
Chronic pain, Family history of suicide
Exposure to family violence, including physical or sexual abuse
Presence of guns or other firearms in the home
